River City Weekly is Idaho Falls’ free, weekly feature newspaper. Over the past two years we’ve gained a rather large following of readers who enjoy our upbeat, fresh features about the people, places, artists, music and events in Bonneville County.

Now that we've transitioned fully to online publication of River City Weekly, we'd like to expand our coverage of our positive local news and features. And to do that, we're inviting you to send in your articles and photos for our online edition.

We will continue to report on the news and features we find as well, and still appreciate your story ideas, tip and suggestions. Feature photos of community events are welcome too. Please submit everything, along with your contact information, by email to news@rivercityweekly.com.

So you might ask, what exactly is newsworthy? Your t-ball champs, scholastic honors, unusual or timely arts and entertainment items, a notable civic accomplishment. In past issues we've covered local bands, local businesses, sporting events, a new pier being built on the river, a bike race in downtown Idaho Falls, a young hero from Ammon, a cake artisan - you get the drift. We don't live by the old motto, "if it bleeds it leads." Quite the opposite. We think there is quite a bit that is newsworthy in this community, even if it doesn't pass the old standards.

On the other hand, if we think your news item is more of an ad, please don't be offended if we suggest you buy a business spotlight. Many local business owners find this the best way to promote their business - who knows their own story better? Check out our advertisers who are using this new method of sharing their story, under the tab "business spotlights."
